My body is sitting at my desk, in a fluorescent-lit office building, with recycled air and stuffy suits, but my mind and my heart are still in Paris. Long story short, we had an amazing vacation. Couldn't have been better. The weather held out for us perfectly and even warmed-up with some sunshine for our picnic in Paris at the Pont Neuf park. Dan and I also travel well together. I love him all the time, but especially love him when he lifts my luggage, tries to speak French, and doesn't think I am crazy when I tell him that I have no desire to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower...he just says "I don't either"! Absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder in our relationship, traveling does. Instead of doing a play-by-play of our trip, I will write-up a few highlights in a list (because I am OCD and LOVE lists).
1. Beer and wine taste even better in the middle of the day, when accompanied by french fries
2. People in Belgium really do all have blonde hair and blue eyes and ride around on cute bikes with baskets in the front
3. Cobblestone streets look cute, but are a twisted ankle waiting to happen
4. Parisians are not rude, they just have no sense of humor and are definitely not boisterous
5. The Euro stinks. Wow, what a crappy exchange rate. The peso is much better.
6. Paris is just like New York, except older, and cleaner, and prettier and the people are better behaved
We have been struck hard by the travel bug and cannot wait to plan our next trip. Part of the fun is the planning, so we are starting on Italy next. Do you have any great Italy ideas? Send them over.
